What is laser thread vein removal?

Laser thread vein removal is a process of using intense light to target and remove unwanted fine veins and broken capillaries from the surface of the skin on your face, legs or body. Using the 3D Vasculase laser we are able to precisely target the treatment area, and in most cases visibly remove the veins/capillaries permanently. Multiple treatments may be required

How does 3d Vasculase work?

The 980nm laser used in the 3D Vasculase is drawn to the haemoglobin in the targeted vein. The intense light damages the walls of the vein and allows the blood to coagulate before being absorbed naturally into the body. This process is completely safe and creates an instantly improved appearance of vein removal. You’ll actually be able to see the vein disappear before your eyes.

Vasculase vs Sclerotherapy

Unlike sclerotherapy, 3D Vasculase laser thread vein removal doesn’t require any needles and is painless, with only a warming, prickling sensation experienced.

With sclerotherapy a fine needle is inserted as closely as possible to the treatment site. A solution is injected which breaks down the walls of the broken capillary, collapsing the vein and allowing the body to naturally absorb it. With Vasculase, this process is done using without any injections or solutions, using the targeted light from a laser to heat and destroy the unwanted vein instead.

What to expect during treatment

You’ll be welcomed into the treatment room and assessed by our highly-skilled therapist. We’ll take a detailed history, discuss what you hope to achieve and assess the area to ensure it’s suitable for treatment. Before treatment begins, you’ll be provided with protective glasses that you’ll wear throughout the procedure. Your therapist will then use the 3D Vasculase to target the affected area. You’ll experience a warming and may feel a slight prickling feeling in the area being treated. Duration of treatment will depend on the size of the area being treated.

Common Questions

Who can have laser thread vein removal?

This treatment is suitable for women and men over the age of 18 with concerns about the appearance of thread veins.

Are there any side effects?

Initially, following the treatment, the area may appear red. This is just the skin’s natural reaction and it should settle within 24 hours. There should be no other side effects.

Is there any recovery time?

There is no downtime with this treatment, no scabbing and there should be no sign that the treatment has taken place after the first 24 hours. Correct aftercare should be followed to ensure the treatment remains effective.

How long will results last for?

Laser thread vein removal is permanent. However, this doesn’t mean that new thread veins won’t appear. Hormonal changes, pregnancy, weight gain and occupations that involve being active can all be contributing factors.

Will I need a patch test?

There is no patch test required for 3D Vasculase unless you have any underlying conditions or take certain medication- The clinic will send you a consultation form prior to the appointment and inform you if a patch test is required.

How many treatments will I need?

Only one treatment is typically needed for you to achieve permanent results. If there is a large surface area to treat, you may prefer to break the treatment up into more than one session.
