The Most Effective Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling works by stimulating your skin’s natural healing response by puncturing the skin with tiny needles. The more punctures made, the more effective the treatment, which is why SKINPEN is the most effective microneedling treatment available. With its 14-tip needle head and the Smart Advantage motor making 7000 revolutions per minute, 98,000 punctures are made per minute, more than four times as many as a dermal roller.

How Your Skin Rejuvenates

There are three phases to the wound-repair process: Inflammation, proliferation and remodelling. During treatment the SKINPEN pierces the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect and  increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. During proliferation the wound is rebuilt with new cells and a new network of blood vessels develops. In the final remodelling phase, new dermal tissue is created, replacing the damaged skin.

Lasting Effects

Shortly after your SKINPEN treatment your skin will look healthier and visibly more radiant and this will continue to improve over time. It takes time for the skin to naturally repair and stimulate new collagen production and your results will continue to improve in the weeks following the treatment. Optimum results normally take between 3-4 months after your final course of treatments.

You will receive a new kit for every treatment, including:

Results our Customers Love

Very happy to recommend Imogen’s. I received treatment for some unwanted skin tags which Jo removed successfully with efficiency and completely painlessly. Always a warm friendly welcome too. Thank you Jo.

What an incredible treatment, my skin felt tight after the treatment, it looked radiant and had an incredible glow. I am aware that the treatment needs to be done in a course of treatments, so I cannot wait to see the end result after the course of treatments.

Jo was very friendly and instantly made you feel comfortable. The laser treatment was successful and all of the advice she has given has been very useful. The whole experience has improved my skin’s appearance massively.

Common Questions

Dermal rollers consist of a rolling pin covered with tiny needles. During a dermal roller treatment, the roller is rolled across the skin, leaving behind a trail of microscopic punctures. While the needle roller is effective, the rolling action causes the needles to enter and exit the skin at an angle, creating lateral epidermal tears, this makes the treatment much more uncomfortable, and often causes a longer downtime for the patient.

SkinPen needles enter the skin at 90 degrees and can treat certain hard-to-reach areas, such as around the eyes, nose and mouth, changing the depth of the needle as most suitable.

The SkinPen procedure is minimally invasive and non-surgical. The treatment creates minimal discomfort which is tolerable to many people, but we apply a topical anaesthetic to the skin 30 minutes prior to the treatment to minimise any discomfort.

Once your skin has been numbed, SkinPen will be moved over the skin, the pen is held in an upright position so the micro-needles penetrate the skin smoothly. A patch test for this anaesthetic is required 24- 48 hours before treatment.

SKINPEN microneedling has a short procedure time of approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the area and concern.

You can expect to feel mild post-procedure effects such as a mild to moderate sunburn, a recovery time of around 24 hours.

Results are not permanent as the skin will still be affected by the natural ageing process, lifestyle and environmental influences, but most results last around 12-18 months.

The number of sessions is dependent on your skin’s conditions and concerns. The number of sessions vary from 3-6 every 6 weeks. Scar correction can take longer. You can prolong your results by having regular top-up sessions and follow a good professional regime.

There have been contraindications for people with the following conditions, and so this treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have a history of keloid scarring, scleroderma, collagen vascular disease or other cardiac abnormalities, and haemorrhagic disorders
  • Have an active fungal, viral or bacterial infection in the area to treated, such as the herpes simplex virus (cold sores). If you do have a history of cold sores it is recommended that you use Zovirax or Acyclovir a week pre and post treatment.

A full consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to make sure that you do not have any medical conditions that will affect the treatment.
